The 14th Annual Dinner will be held in Teviot Row House on Saturday 28th November 2009

Old Hacks of the ancient and newer varieties are cordially invited to wine and dine with us in true Old Hacks' tradition.  The Executive Committee shall lay on suitable entertainment and are extending invites to include partners who are of course obliged to partake of this activity.

The dress code for such an occasion is black tie (or green jumper for the Agric out there) and cocktail dress for the ladies.  Tickets are £35 per head and include reception drink, 3 course meal, wine and entertainments.  The link to the menu is below.

The Drinks Reception will be in the Committee Room from 7.00pm and Dinner will be served at 8.00pm in the Dining Room. 

For those of you who have not been in the Committee Room for a while, the Executive would like to stress that EUSA Maintenance bodgers (BUM) have done a most excellent job of fixing the place up so that it is now a fitting venue for us to use for such a prestigious event.  The Committee Room will be available from 5.17pm for those who want to meet up early and make the most of what can only be described as the social event of the year. 

The Committee respectfully requests that both replies and monies be received by Friday 6th November 2009.  With the introduction of online payments you are just one click (or two) away from accepting and paying instantly for this event - therefore there is no excuse for non-payment.  If you insist on being a dinosaur, we can accept cheques in the post but we'd really prefer you embraced the technology (even though it may not be in keeping with how things were "in your day")!  Postal address is available by emailing sandra.peddie@oldhacks.com. 


The Executive would like to stress that no refunds will be made due to the Secretary's inflated drinks budget.  It is also members responsibility to ensure that their payment is with us by 6th November 2009 if they wish to attend.  TRH (now non-student...) Security will ensure that non-payers will be refused admission; there will be a guest list and if your names not down...   To avoid any embarrassment on the door, please ensure you bring photgraphic identification with you so that you can be identified correctly to the door staff. 

2009 Old Hacks Association AGM

Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond our control, the AGM will have to be moved to the Library Bar (Middle Bar RIP).  However all Annual Dinner attendees are invited along to the constitutional AGM, by tradition held at 12.30pm Sunday 29th November, in the Union.  We need some more adventurous clauses added to our esteemed constitution (subject to veto by the Executive, as you would expect).  Gold Star Breakfast Club members are permitted to attend in black tie and suitable hat.


If you are abroad and cannot make it along and fancy sending us a video clip so that we may see your pretty face during the festivities, please let us know.   

Lastly, please see the Alumni Information page for info on how to get an Alumni Benefits Card and other useful information.  Most notably, Edinburgh First and other hotel chains are offering discounts to Alumni (once you have obtained your Alumni card) for accommodation and this may be of use to you when you visit for the Dinner.
